Frequently Asked Questions

My WiFi is not working, what should I do?
If your WiFi is not working, check the following...(Most likely you are accessing this from another computer if your WiFi is not working)

1. Check if you are connected to the WiFi. If not, reconnect. Usually one would connect to "JCSD".
2. Check for a physical "switch" on the laptop that turns the WiFi off and on. There is a chance that the switch could be turned off, which would mean your WiFi is turned off. Depending on the laptop model, the location can vary.

Model
R61 - Physical switch is located on the front left portion of the laptop.
T430 - Physical switch is located on the right side, on the far back of the laptop.
BE-ML6 Laptop - Physical switch is located on the front left portion of the laptop.
SL410 - Physical switch is located on the right side, close to the front of the laptop.

3. If there is no physical switch, there is probably a "keyboard button" switch. The laptops with a keyboard button switch will have a key that says "fn" located in the bottom left of the keyboard (that is the most common location). To turn the WiFi back on using this switch, you would hit the "fn" button and hold it. Next look for a WiFi symbol at the top of your keyboard. When you locate the button that has a WiFi symbol, hit it while still holding down the "fn" button. Let go and it should toggle the WiFi on or off.
